Courses

Courses work together, easing students into progressively more complex financial topics, from spending and saving wisely to staying out of debt to getting started with long-term investing.

Each 4-week course includes video instruction, live webinars, tools, examples, and quizzes that teach real-world skills essential to creating a financially stable life. Personalized support is available.

At the end of every week, you’ll receive an update on your child’s progress, and some finance-themed conversation starters you can use at home so you can stay involved and keep your teen engaged outside of the course. Parent involvement is a huge part of our student’s success!

Key 1: Spending & Saving

One-time Fee: $47 (non-member) | Essential Membership: $9/mo | Master Membership: $18/mo

In this foundational TMK course, teens will learn how to prioritize their spending and saving. By learning to identify needs vs. wants, teens will have the foundational skill needed to create goals for their money based on what’s most important to them. By the end of this course, students will know how to define their short-term financial goals and create a budget and savings plan to meet those goals.

Key 2: Financing College

One-time Fee: $47 (non-member) | Essential Membership: $9/mo | Master Membership: $18/mo

In the US, the average student loan debt at graduation is an estimated $31,100 (Education Data Initiative). This second course teaches students how to avoid student loan debt by learning how to find, apply for, and win scholarships, grants, financial aid, and work-study opportunities. And if a loan is absolutely necessary, students will learn how to calculate long-term costs and find the best possible terms. By the end of this course, students will be prepared to finance their college education without getting sacked with a mountain of debt at graduation.

Key 3: Credit Smart

One-time Fee: $47 (non-member) | Essential Membership: $9/mo | Master Membership: $18/mo

As a tool, credit can allow you to do big things-- but if you’re not careful, credit can cause a lot of unnecessary financial problems. In this third TMK course, students learn how credit works, what a credit score is, what a credit report is, and how they can find their personal score and report for free. Students will also learn how to find and evaluate the best credit opportunities for themselves. By the end of this course, students will know how to use credit wisely, avoiding debt and common pitfalls.

Key 4: Wise Investing

One-time Fee: $47 (non-member) | Essential Membership: $9/mo | Master Membership: $18/mo

Teens have the financial advantage of time-- but most of them don’t know it. In this fourth TMK course, students will learn why a long-term approach to investing is best for letting funds grow slowly and more safely. Students will also learn different investment types and their terminology. By the end of this course, students will understand their unique opportunity to use the power of compound interest to their advantage by starting their long-term investment strategy now.
